About me

Yash Gawde

I’m Yash.

I started working pretty young. Around 16.

I started building businesses when I was 18.

There wasn’t some master plan behind it. I just really liked making things.

And I liked the fact that you could put something on the internet and someone you had never met could use it, buy it or tell you it sucked.

That still feels pretty magical.

Since then I’ve spent most of my time somewhere between startups, video, media and technology.

Right now

Most of my attention goes into BeHooked.ai.

We’re trying to make AI video creation much simpler. Instead of opening five models, three editors and fifteen tabs, I want you to be able to start with an idea and get much closer to a finished video in one place.

I also run BeVisual.media. That’s where we make actual commercial work using AI.

Films. Ads. Launch videos. Founder content. And whatever weird brief shows up next.

I also work with Navayuvak Entrepreneurs and keep experimenting with smaller products on the side.

How I got here

I’ve done a lot of things badly before learning how to do them slightly less badly.

I’ve built products nobody wanted. Sold things before they were ready. Hired the wrong people. Held on to people for too long. Spent money I probably shouldn’t have. Been too frugal when spending would have helped. Worked way too much. Sometimes not enough.

Had businesses work. Had things fall apart. And started again.

I think that is pretty much entrepreneurship.

What I care about

I care a lot about building. But I care more now about why I’m building.

I used to think the scoreboard was obvious: build the biggest company, raise the most money, have the biggest exit.

Now I think freedom is a much more interesting scoreboard.

Can you choose what you work on? Can you choose who you work with? Can you take care of the people you love? Can you stop doing something when you stop believing in it? Can you spend your life doing things you actually find interesting?

That sounds like success to me.

Things I’m interested in

AI. Video. Media. Startups. Distribution. Internet businesses. Products. Money. Human behaviour. Good design.

And weird ideas that initially sound stupid but somehow make sense after ten minutes.

What I write about

Mostly things I’m going through myself.

Building. Selling. Hiring. AI. Money. Teams. Failure. Distribution. Freedom.

And whatever else has been living in my head for too long.

I’m not trying to sound like I have everything figured out. I don’t.

These are mostly notes from wherever I currently am. I’ll probably disagree with some of them later.

Good.

Outside work

I live in Mumbai.

I like films. I like discovering ridiculously simple internet businesses. I like meeting people who are obsessed with something. I like trying products.

And I have an unfortunate inability to leave interesting ideas alone.

Say hi
