A 3D anniversary game I made for my girlfriend using Blender, Three.js and a lot of AI.

I made Sunflowers & Side Quests as an anniversary gift for my girlfriend. Instead of giving her another video or letter, I turned two years of memories, inside jokes and stupid little fights into a 3D game she could actually play.

The game

You play as Manali through eight chapters of our relationship.

She has to fix my terrible outfit before we leave the house, ride through Mumbai as the passenger princess, spot planes at Juhu, fight Himanshu and a few very real relationship problems, divide six pomegranate pieces correctly, and collect eight sunflowers along the way.

Every chapter ends with a door. I always run ahead to open it for her. At the end, we open the final one together.

How I made it

I used AI throughout the process: to explore the visual direction, help create and iterate on the 3D characters, write and refine parts of the story, build the game, and troubleshoot all the strange things that break when three animated characters are trying to ride a bike together.

Blender was a big part of it. I used it for the characters, rigging, clothes, animations and asset cleanup. The game itself was built with Three.js, TypeScript and Vite.

AI made it possible to move much faster, but it was not a one-prompt project. A lot of the work was still choosing the right references, fixing faces and clothes, adjusting animations, testing every interaction, and deciding which tiny details would make her laugh.

What I learned

This was the most personal thing I had built. It reminded me that software does not always need to solve a business problem. Sometimes it can just remember the exact joke, the exact place and the exact person it was made for.
